Blog 7, The FAIRParty and the Constitution, part 3

Article 1, Section 7.  All revenue bills must originate in the House but the Senate can propose amendments as with any other bill.  Once a bill is passed by both bodies of the Legislature the President can sign and it becomes a Public Law, hold it for ten days and it becomes Law, or return it to the originating body with objections commonly referred to as a veto.  Once vetoed the originating Legislative body may add the objections to the journal and may reconsider the bill recoding all votes by members.  If the original Legislative body overrides the veto with a two thirds vote than it will be moved to the other body for reconsideration and voting.  If both bodies approve with two thirds votes, then the bill will become Law.

This is an administrative section of the constitution that we should remember from our school days.  Once I am done with my review of the Constitution.  I will start discussing the budget and look at reducing the budget down to meet the requirements of the Constitution.  Most of us are so use to our government doing so much more for us as a society that we may experience some natural fear about how we will get these things done without the government doing them.  These extra services were not an explicit nature of government when our Country was founded, this is where the conversation gets interesting and I will have the comments turned on so we can all join in.  I look forward to recording conversations with some of you for future Podcasts.

A real short post tonight, I need to pick up dinner for us to eat on the train.  I am really looking forward to getting to some of the definitive section of the Constitution which talk about the federal government’s responsibilities.  I will be taking tomorrow off to attend a Church function.  I will either pick up again during the weekend or on Tuesday.  With all my Love, Dennis
