Life might not seem FAIR but your government should be and transparency in all actions is one way to keep it FAIR for all Americans, not just for those with influence.
To be this the FAIRParty can not be a political party that tries to solve your problems, that ends up leading to favoritism at some level. The government is beholden to the population that has elected it to serve them. Serve them how is often the issue and what kind of governing principles do you want?
Through this exploration I will exam our Constitution with amendments, I will not spend a whole lot of time on The Constitution of the United States of America, Analysis and Interpretation, Centennial Edition, May 23, 2014. It is about 2800 pages long and applies all of the Supreme Court cases against the Constitution. That project would take many hundreds of hours to study and apply to a political party. Once a Supreme Court decision is made it is usually not revisited unless major changes have happened in law and sentiment within the country. Unfortunately I don’t have twenty plus millions of dollars to research what the ideal FAIRParty would be with political experts and focus groups like the founders of the FAIRTax was able to do more than a dozen years ago now. Let me just put it out now that I support the principles of the FAIRTax and they have a great website (FAIRTax.org) if you want more information right now on them.
I will also explore the budget of the United States of America in context to the publicly states missions of the federal agencies that are listed in the Balances by Agency tables, those are the large Departments (mostly Cabinet Level). Again a full analysis of the budget would take hundreds of hours and I want to focus our conversation on what should the federal government be doing for us and at what cost. In exploring the Legislative Branch (Congress) budget, I will propose a modern modus operandi that will not require your representatives to become full time Washington residents. Remember the citizen soldier and politician that our country was built on over 200 years ago?
One comment during the 2008 Presidential Campaign has stayed with me over the years, is when a school teacher was interviewed about become a politician and she replied that she was not qualified enough to hold political office. If she is qualified enough to teach our children then she should be qualified enough to to hold public office. Our federal government should not be so complicated that our elected officials feel like they must stay in office for years to finally be able to do the job they were hired to do. The Congress is the policy making and oversight body of the federal government not the execution body that is the executive branch with millions of professionals currently hired to do just that, how many professionals do we need? We will explore that as well, again who do you want spending your money to accomplish what?
I will probably focus on this writing project with the Presidential Campaign in full swing for the next many months. By the time the election comes around I hope to have presented an alternative for the next election and principles that we can start apply locally as well. Some of you are asking do we really need a new political party in our two party system, let me ask you then when was the last time you voted for a member of the Wigs Party, one of our original two political parties? Is there much of a difference between the two big parties right now? We can do better but only we the voters can do that by demanding better from those that want political power, one way to control that is to control the amount of political power that is vested with the various elected positions.
Another challenge is how to keep this movement focused on my core principles that this site is based on: Living Gratefully with Joy while Giving with all my Love, Dennis
